A study of the 27 MILLION PESOS in checks seized from a Maute sniper position revealed that the checks date back to 2014 – 2016 thus are not negotiable anymore (due to a six month maximum allowable period). The 52 MILLION PESOS in cash are genuine legal tender. Authorities are still at a loss as to where all the money came from and are looking into the DRUG angle to explain the loot.
