We salute Sarangani congressman and eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao for calling on Indonesian President Joko Widodo to stop the impending execution of Mary Jane Veloso, the Filipina who was sentenced to death by an Indonesian court for drug trafficking in 2010.
Pacman is showing us that we Filipinos, as a people and as a nation, can unite behind Mary Jane in the same way that we are uniting behind him. Such unity is most needed now in the face of the Indonesian Sleman district court’s rejection of the second appeal for judicial review of Mary Jane’s case.
Manny is showing us that no schedule is too busy and no impending fight is too important for us to not contribute to the call to stop Mary Jane’s impending execution. Indeed, we cannot go on with our lives and ignore the fact that a fellow worker and fellow Filipino may lose her life any time soon.
The greatest Filipino boxer of all time has again shown himself to be an ally of the Filipino workers and people. He has championed our call for a significant wage hike for Filipino workers and has helped us in our various activities which aimed at directly helping ordinary Filipinos.

Breaking News: Senator Allan Peter Cayetano to admit getting campaign contributions from Pork Barrel Queen Janet Lim Napoles. This development was brought about by documentary evidence pointing to 17 senators and top government officials having received millions of pesos in campaign contributions from now-jailed Janet Lim Napoles. In an earlier affidavit from the Pork Barrel Queen, Senator Allan Peter Cayetano was identified as a recipient of millions of pesos which the senator did not divulge in his Comelec filing, in violation of the Omnibus Election Law. The same affidavit did not point to Senator Grace Poe and President Aquino, among many others, but new evidence has surfaced showing President Aquino received PHP 90 million (in the 2010 presidential elections which he won) and Senator Grace Poe getting PHP 25 million (in the 2013 senatorial elections which she topped) from Madam Napoles. President and Aquino and Senator Grace Poe also did not reflect the Napoles cash gifts in their respective post-election filings with the Comelec which mean clear violations of the law. Senator Grace Poe is also reportedly considering coming out clean to mitigate the impact of the breaking news on her possible run for higher public office in 2016.

Both Senators Grace Poe and Allan Peter Cayetano, among others, received millions of pesos of campaign contributions from Pork Barrel Queen Janet lim Napoles.
