Joy got her plum position on a silver platter being the daughter of SB, thus inheriting the city chief executive crown. In true dynastic fashion, a multitude of relatives occupy elective and appointive positions. Politics is truly a family business.

The pandemic really brought out the worst in the new mayor (at the same time that other first term mayors in Manila, Pasig and San Juan were creating waves in initiatives, creativity, efficiency and performance in public service). Patented temper tantrums mark the rule of the possessed woman. As she now runs for her second term, a confluence of events makes her re-election a lot more difficult. Bong Bong Marcos is leading all presidential surveys. He is running under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. Ironically, prior to BBM’s sudden entry into that obscure national political party, Joy Belmonte was the NCR Chairperson of PFP. In a sudden twist of events, BBM endorsed Congressman Mike Defensor as the PFP standard bearer for Quezon City. Quezon City is a major BBM bailiwick and his anointed one for Quezon City will sway multitudes of voters to the Defensor side. Kingpins Bingbong Crisologo and Winnie Castelo (who has his own QC dynasty) are in the Defensor ticket.

Dynasties, sooner or later, end. Aside from Joy there are still relatives running for local office and they may still win a number of positions. In 2019, the Belmontes lost a councilor seat in District 1. Their SB party list nominees also failed to land a seat (up to a maximum of three per party list) thus giving up the seat they previously held. Should Joy lose as mayor in 2022, it would be the equivalent of a dynastic decapitation as she currently holds the highest elective position among the Belmontes. It could break the heart of the aging patriarch, SB, who built an empire only to see it crumble but he only has his daughter to blame.

Kagaya ng 2010 at 2016 Philippine presidential elections, kaunting oras lang ay alam na ang resulta. Yun lang, tila nagkaroon ng malaking MIRAKULO sa nagwaging Bise Presidente nuong 2016. Sa maraming taon ng protesta mula sa panig ng natalo, umabot at natapos ang laban sa Korte Suprema. Yan ang rason kung bakit hanggang ngayon ay mayroong tinuturing na FVP o Fake Vice President ang ating bansa. Huwag na po nating hayaang mangyari muli na MADUNGISAN ang proseso ng pagpili ng mga mamumuno sa ating bayan. Sa isang demokrasya, ang boses ng mamamayan ay naririnig sa pamamagitan ng balota. Dapat lang na ang pinili ng mga botante ay ang mga magwawagi.

Batay sa mga poll survey, sina Senadora Leila de Lima, na kasalukuyang nakakulong, at si dating Senador Antonio Trillanes ay malabong manalo sa Halalan 2022. Si Senadora Risa Hontiveros naman ay malamang magtagumpay muli.

Magugunita na nuong 2019 ay na ZERO ang Otso Diretso (sa Inidoro) ng Partido Liberal kung saan walong kandidato nila sa pagkasenador ay natalong lahat (kasama ang mga dating Senador Bam Aquino at Mar Roxas).

Sapagkat marami sa 2022 senatorial ticket ng Partido Liberal ay mga batikan (mga Senador o dating Senador Escudero, Villanueva, Gordon at Zubiri at si dating Pangalawang Pangulo Binay) marami sa mga ito (kasama si Senadora Hontiveros) ay hindi na MABOBOKYA ang Partido Liberal sa 2022. NOTE: Si Gordon malamang malaglag habang LIMA sa kanila ang mananalo.

Sa pagkapangulo si VP Leni Robredo ay malayo sa nangungunang kandidato. Sa pagkapangalawang pangulo si Senador Kiko Pangilinan ay pumapangatlo lamang sa mga survey.

Instant celebrity Gwyneth Chua who skipped her mandatory quarantine to go partying then tested positive for Covid 19 and in the process infecting her friends and resto bar staff, has a lot of anger frothing from her social media post. 1. She just called the hard working Philippine President Duterte as INCOMPETENT 2. She stated that FRONTLINERS are LAZY 3. She said that the Philippines is KJ (killjoy) and walang pakisama (no camaraderie) referring to party restrictions and protocols. 4. She dismissed her irresponsible behavior as “simpleng party lang” (it was just a mere party) as if to minimize the public health hazard that she has caused. 5. She also considers the fuss she is generating as an over reaction (OA or over acting).

At the very least, she has a lot of explaining to do, hopefully, in a court of law.

Internet sensation Doc Willie Ong had an outstanding, though not winning, performance in the 2019 Philippine midterm senatorial elections. Garnering more than 7,000,000 votes enough for 18th place, Doc Willie missed the Magic 12 list of winners but at the same time showed that he may have what it takes to challenge the big guns the second time around (2022).

The current pandemic that hit in 2020 gave Doc Willie more media exposure as he explained health issues and dispensed medical advice. The road to another run at the Senate was, however, derailed as presidential wannabe, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, invited Doc Willie to run for vice president instead.

While the Senate will have 12 available slots to fill, the Vice Presidential derby will only have one winner. If elections would be held today, Doc Willie would be a far and distant fourth placer (behind front runner Davao City Mayor Inday Sara, the presidential daughter; second in the surveys Senate President Tito Sotto (himself a showbiz personality) and running third is Senator Kiko Pangilinan (with Megastar Sharon Cuneta as his wife).

Less than five months till the May 2022 presidential elections, Doc Willie’s vice presidential campaign is not gaining any traction, is not creating waves and does not show signs that victory may be attained. In the final analysis, the chances of Doc Willie winning the senatorial race are far much greater than getting the second highest executive position in the land (spare tire or VP).

With presidential survey frontrunner Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, the presidential daughter, settling to run for vice president instead, the stage is set for a replay of the 2016 vice presidential contest between Leni Robredo and Bongbong Marcos but this time for the highest elective position of the land.

Former Congresswoman Leni beat former Senator BBM by a slight margin that dragged the subsequent electoral protest (for years) all the way up to the Supreme Court.

For the 2022 presidential race, FM Jr. (the son of his namesake former president and much reviled dictator) is leading widely in all surveys. It does not help the opposition that at least four big anti government names (Robredo, Isko Moreno, Manny Pacquiao and Ping Lacson) can not unite under one candidate to give them a better chance to win. On the President Duterte side of the contest, BBM has the support of significant numbers of DDS (Duterte Diehard Supporters) plus getting Inday Sara as his VP running mate in spite of the fact that Tatay Digong has fielded his alter ego, Senator Bong Go, to join the presidential derby. Senator Bong Go for president has adopted Inday Sara for his VP despite the situation in which she is in the BBM ticket.

Leni and FM Jr. have recently dominated mainstream media as well as the now preeminent social media (mostly Facebook) making it very difficult for the other presidential candidates to have their voices heard.

Be that as it may, the 2022 national elections are still many months away with the official campaign period to start in February, 2022 and the Presidential elections to be held in May, 2022. A lot of things can still happen. At the very least, from what has happened so far, the political exercise of the right to suffrage would be very exciting with all the twists and turns worthy of a blockbuster telenovela.
